Nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S sample photo

by David Bennett on April 14, 2009

I have been using this lens for several weeks now and I am extremely with it. It is small, light, and sharp. It is AF-S and I am using it on my Nikon D60. The D60 has no drive motor in the body, so it needs an AF-S to enable autofocus.

I could have made a set of test photos, but I decided to put up this shot. The crop of the dog represents approximately one quarter of one per cent of the total area of the shot.

You can’t see it in this shot, but there is no chromatic aberration or color fringing in the fine detail in the upper branches set against the sky where one would expect, if anywhere, to see it.

Shot as a RAW file, developed in Photoshop, color balanced with the dropper in the dog’s eye, no sharpening.

I shot this at 1/125second, f5, -0.7 exposure compensation.

Europe has VAT. That would account for part of the cost. Seems as if everything is more expensive in Europe.

When I wrote this, the £ was running at about $2.00.

Now it is $1.55 to the £, so I guess the thing to be now is an American with dollars living the highlife in the UK.
