This is a jpeg straight out of the camera with just the shadow area on the extreme left of the frame painted out.
Here is a second shot with exposure compensation set to +2/3 of a stop, which is about right considering the light background that covers a large part of the frame.
Setting the exposure compensation is easy.
The toggle at the back toggles between exposure compensation and aperture. If it is set on aperture, just kick the toggle over to the left and then up or down to adjust the compensation.
I got in a bit closer this time, and it changes the perspective. The fact that the camera focuses so close even in normal (as opposed to macro) focusing is a nice feature.

It certainly seems like a very versatile camera does the LX3 – and the fact you can set compensation is very useful. I find that a must have feature, as quite often you are faced with a big light differential.
Absolutely agree. And it is just as easy to set aperture. I haven’t dug around enough to find the ‘quick’ way to change ISO. There is an auto-ISO feature but I don’t know enough about the camera yet to use that.
