The photographer Steve Steigman shot the photograph that was commissioned by Maxell to advertise their audio cassette tapes in the 1980s.
There was a TV advertisement later, and perhaps like me, you remember the man in the black Corbusier chair taking in The Ride of The Valkyries, at maximum volume.
The lampshade rocks and tilts under the force of the music. The glass of wine slides across the side table – neatly caught by his languid hand. His hair and tie blow back. He is totally satisfied.
