eReceptionist is a virtual receptionist which provides a phone number and phone system, including: call answering, call forwarding and voicemail by email.
I recall that I clicked through to the eReceptionist site from the Octane article and had a look around.
Now today, here on Photographworks where I run Google Adsense, I see the ad for this product running, and running, and running for hours now.
Is it coincidence that I am seeing this ad? My IP Adress is in the UK and eReceptionist is a UK based service, so it would make sense that I get this ad and not the ad for another of the products I clicked through to when I read the article. [The other product was Daylite - a CRM and task manager that looks pretty good.]
My first thought was that eReceptionist is in my Google browsing history, but I checked and it isn't.
So, is it a coincidence?
[I have put up a small image of the eReceptionist advertisement here on the right of this article because when you, the reader, read this the advertisement may well have disappeared from the Adsense ads that are showing on this site.]

Adsense, in that sense, makes no sense to me.
In seriousness though, it does sound like more than a coincidence. You might want to check out http://www.facebook.com/GoogleAdWordsTrainingCourses and pose the question there. They seem to know their stuff.

Thank you for the tip, I am checking it out now.
It may seem like a small thing, but having a professional receptionist promptly and politely answer your phone creates a professional corporate image and says you care and are ready for business. At Smiledog, this is what we do for large and small business owners.
Is this a comment or an advertisement for Smiledog?
I chopped out your URL. If someone wants to find you they can Google for your name.
Please read this blog’s comment policy and you will see why I deleted your link.
I thought it was just me. I have the same experience wherein, when I browse or search about this “web design thing”, bam, adsense ads at one of my blogs suddenly are full off web design ads. Its our behavior or I think, browsing history that was being recorded by big G. Its pretty good for user experience and pretty fast reaction at their end. Just my thoughts.

I was about to reply that I only have search history activated on Google, but I decided to check. I looked and sure enough my browsing history is recorded. The statement from Google reads:
“With Web History, you’ll be able to:
View and manage your web activity.
You know that great web site you saw online and now can’t find? From now on, you can. With Web History, you can view and search across the full text of the pages you’ve visited, including Google searches, web pages, images, videos and news stories. You can also manage your web activity and remove items from your web history at any time.
Get the search results most relevant to you.
Web History helps deliver more personalized search results based on the things you’ve searched for on Google and the sites you’ve visited. You might not notice a big impact on your search results early on, but they should steadily improve over time the more you use Web History.
Follow interesting trends in your web activity.
Which sites do you visit frequently? How many searches did you do between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.? Web History can tell you about these and other interesting trends in your web activity.”
So there it is. I just never checked before.
Hey, Im not a Google Ads expert but in this case I believe it is a coincidence…I don’t know how they would track you and then link you to your website. Furthermore I dont think the ad would start showing after one person went to it from a certain IP address…but as I mentioned – Im by no means an expert! Did you end up using eReceptionist?
No, I have no real use for it. But for an inflatable costume I could always find a use.
