Comment Moderation | Do Follow | Spam | Guesting Blogging

All comments are moderated.
I moderate all comments, therefore your comment will not show up straight away. Instead, I look at each comment and if it looks OK, I publish it.

I may edit it. If it is offensive or is obviously spam, I delete it.

The comments I like are the ones that are relevant to the articles or photographs.

All comments are do follow.
By default, most blogging platforms – including those using WordPress, Moveable Type, and Blogger – make all comments no follow.

This means that a piece of code is inserted automatically whenever a comment contains a link, and this code tells search engines not to pass rank value through to the link.

This code is inserted even when someone includes a link to his or her own website in the ‘website’ field of the comment box.

The blogging platforms introduced this piece of code to stop spam flooding the internet but it makes comments a dead-end for passing page rank value.

However, because I have enabled comment moderation, if I think something is spam it never gets published anyway.

So to encourage visitors with their own websites to comment here, I have made links in comments do follow.

The Bottom Line
A lot of bloggers don’t know about no follow and do follow, or they don’t want to put in the extra effort that is needed to trawl through the comments and weed out the spam.

Accordingly, there are not that many do follow blogs around, so treat this one well.

This blog concentrates on photos, tests of photo gear, photography, image processing, and subjects loosely connected with those things.

If you have something that adds value, then I will want to say yes to it whether or not you put in a link back to your blog.

Of course, if you don’t have a blog don’t let that stop you – I am happy to hear from you with your comment if it adds value.
