Perspective Distortion

Look at this photograph from your normal viewing distance for looking at the computer. Look down the side of the car and along the back. Compare the length across the back of the car with the length down the side of the car.

Look at the tail light.

Now move forward so that you are just a couple of inches from the screen. The scene might be a bit blurry but as long ias it is clear enough to see the car, then again, look down the side of the car and along the back.

When you are near the screen, your eye has to scan out further to the sides in order to see all of the car. This tells your brain to recompose the image and the perspective distortion that you see from a ‘normal viewing distance’ should be reduced.
